Of One´s Own

// 2013

Titel

During the lecture-performance, fragments of different texts addressing questions of personal space are used and projected in space through both a live performance and a pre-recorded audio file that each person in the audience listened to over headphones. Both parts (live and recorded) were synchronized with each other and the experience switched back and forth seamlessly, creating an analogy to the topic addressed: how headphones can create a personal, immaterial space. Viriginia Woolf’s essay “A Room of One’s Own” serves as a starting point for an enquiry on how our concept of private space might have changed through the use of smartphones and headphones.
